What to expect

I will not judge your experience, your body, your self, or your expression. I will honor the presence and vulnerability you entrust me with.

Acupuncture calls on the resources of your body, it doesn’t add or subtract from what’s present, but can reveal fortitude and depletion that may not present on the surface and enable you to better metabolize energy sources. You don’t need to do anything special to prepare for treatment, but the more awareness you are able to access of your experience the better. If you can, take a moment in stillness to note what exists. Give yourself nourishment before and after treatment in whatever form you need. You’ll need it to process the shifts in your body and energy. Try to avoid intense depletion prior to treatment and overwhelming situations immediately following treatment while you’re still integrating. If there are ways to support your energy directing inward, you’ll receive more benefits. That being said, the limits of the body are generally beyond what they seem and you’ll be okay no matter your setting.

Increased energy, alertness, spaciness, tiredness, a sense of relaxation and ease, greater mobility and strength, and tenderness as your body flushes accumulations in the tissue are all possible sensations following treatment.

Treatment Planning

Some acute symptoms respond to treatment rapidly, resolving within 1-3 sessions, but most conditions require regular treatment over a longer period of time to make lasting progress, often 8-12 sessions. At your visit, I’ll recommend a course of treatment that will be adapted as we see how you progress.
